Imphal, July 22: Manipur Police made significant arrests across different locations, apprehending eight active cadres from various insurgent outfits on Sunday.
In Bishnupur District, two cadres of the KCP (Politburo Standing Committee) were arrested from Meitram Mayai Leikai. The individuals have been identified as Ayekpam Chingkhu Meitei (28) and Chandam Devajit Singh (19). Items recovered from their possession include Rs. 13,500 in cash, one Aadhaar card, three mobile handsets, and one four-wheeler vehicle.
In a separate operation in Imphal East District, an active member of KCP(PWG), Khoirom Ranjit Meitei alias Poirei alias Rocky (44), was arrested at Pangei Bazar. He was reportedly involved in regrouping and recruiting new members, arranging weapons, and extortion activities.
Additionally, three active members of the proscribed outfit KCP (Taibangnganba) were arrested in Imphal. They are Soisenba Oinam alias Ito (22), Lourembam Chingkheinganba (21), and Ningombam Jerit Singh (23). All three were involved in extortion activities around the Imphal area. Three mobile phones were recovered from them.
In another incident, security forces arrested two active members of KYKL (Sorepa group) near Border Pillar No. 80 under Moreh PS. The arrested individuals have been identified as Samurailakpam Deno Sharma alias Kengba (23) and Taorem Yuhenba Singh alias Loya (23).
