Manipur: Kuki Students’ body appeals central forces for safe return of Mangminlal Kipgen
Imphal, July 29: The Kuki Students’ Organisation General Headquarters (KSO-GH) appealed to the Central forces for the safe return of Mangminlal Kipgen.
“On July 27, 2024, Mangminlal Kipgen accidentally crossed the buffer-zone between Churachandpur district and Bishnupur district. He was caught by the mob the next morning in the paddy field. He has hearing issues and an unsound mind, so the mob handed him over to the Indian Reserve Battalion in Naransena, Bishnupur district,” stated KSO-GH in a press statement.

It further stated, “With the intervention of the Central security force, an assurance was given to the students’ body about his release, yet, after 24 hours lapse Mangminlal Kipgen is still in the hands of VBIGs. Since VBIGs have signed a SoO pact with the government, why is there a delay in rescuing him from the VBIGs by the Central Forces? What is the political motive behind the whole gamut?”.
“We would also like to recall the incident last year, where two Meiteis were captured at Khousabung area who had crossed the buffer-zone but later on released by the Kuki Village Volunteers in good faith. Volunteer protecting the buffer-zone without any criminal backgrounds. Therefore, we once again appeal to the central security forces for the safe and sound release of Mangminlal Kipgen without any delay,” the statement further stated.
