Manipur CM Vows To Restore Peace Within Six Months Amid Ethnic Violence
Imphal, Aug 30: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has pledged to restore peace in the state within six months, despite ongoing ethnic violence that has claimed 226 lives since May 2023.
In an exclusive interview, Singh announced the appointment of Dinganglung Gangmei as an emissary to facilitate dialogue between the Kuki-zo and Meitei communities. He emphasized that dialogue is the only way to achieve lasting peace and expressed confidence in the central government’s support.
Singh’s commitment comes amid rumors of his potential resignation, which he has categorically denied. Instead, he remains resolute in his determination to bring peace to the troubled state, working closely with the central government and community leaders.
