Manipur: 4 cadres of UNLF (Pambei) arrested in connection with violence
Imphal, July 29: Four cadres of the United National Liberation Front (Pambei) have been arrested in connection with a violent incident in Manipur.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Thounaojam Gopen Singh, Naorem Ningthouremba, Arambam Tom Meitei and Laishram Doshnikumar.
According to reports, on July 26, armed militants attacked a lounge where eight people were injured. The arrests were made on July 26 in Chingmeirong, Imphal West District.

“The four were involved in a firing incident, assault of civilians and outraging the modesty of a woman. The four have been remanded into police custody for eight days,” said a police official.
After a formal complaint was filed, the police came into action.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Manipur police without mentioning the place where the incident took place on July 26, said the four were “involved in a firing incident, assault of civilians and outraging the modesty of a woman.”

At least 220 people have been killed, 1,500 injured and 60,000 displaced since violence broke out between the Meitei and Kuki-Zomi communities on May 3 last year.
