The Bharatiya Janata Party has nominated senior Supreme Court lawyer Manan Kumar Mishra as its candidate from Bihar for the Rajya Sabha by-election. On Tuesday evening, the party announced the candidates for Bihar and other states of the country. The list of candidates has been released by National General Secretary and Headquarters in-charge Arun Singh. Both the NDA candidates for the two Rajya Sabha seats from Bihar have now been finalised. ALM President Upendra Kushwaha and BJP’s Manan Kumar Mishra will file nominations for the Rajya Sabha. Manan Kumar is a resident of Gopalganj and has also been the President of the Bar Council of India.

Let us tell you that by-elections are currently being held for two vacant Rajya Sabha seats in Bihar. BJP leader Vivek Thakur resigned from Rajya Sabha after being elected to Lok Sabha from Nawada while RJD leader Dr. Misa Bharti resigned from Rajya Sabha after being elected to Lok Sabha from Pataliputra parliamentary seat. BJP has given one seat to its ally party RLM chief Upendra Kushwaha. Kushwaha lost the election from Karakat parliamentary seat. While on the second seat, BJP has nominated Supreme Court lawyer Manan Kumar Mishra.

Due to the delay in the announcement of the BJP candidate, Upendra Kushwaha had to postpone his nomination. Earlier Kushwaha was going to file his nomination on 20 August. But due to the delay in the announcement of the BJP candidate, the date of nomination has been fixed as 21 August.

Rajya Sabha by-election is to be held on September 3.
