His post went viral and sparked a discussion on social media. One asked, “Who are 3-5 year techies? I know many IT guys/girls, they earn 20-25 LPA after 10 years of experience. Maybe few startups offer such a high package to new guys but not big tech.”

Another stated, “Only 20 out of 1000 will get this pay. We need to consider more realistic average pay.” A third person wrote, “Few get it. Most don’t. Speaking from insights into TCS and Infosys. Disc- I was/am not associated with the above-mentioned companies.” One person stated, “Please share the companies that are offering this much of a package for 2-3 years of experienced candidate.”

A netizen commented, “Not common. Startups and US companies can afford to pay so much but not Indian MNCs. 20% could be earning 25L at 5 years of experience. The majority 80% still earn only up to 10L in 5 years.” Another wrote, “Not always. Depends on the company. The top 5 Indian IT service companies that we all know, have not been increasing Salaries like they used to. The examples you are quoting are either American companies or pure product-based companies. IT is the namesake and peer pressure adds up as well. But I do agree with you, In a city like Mumbai or Bangalore, 25L is barely enough for a family of 3 or 4.”
