The first batch of MBBS students of Nagaland’s first medical sit for their maiden university examination at NIMSR, Phriebagei, Kohima on July 25.

Counselling for 2024-25 batch expected soon

Kohima, July 25 (MExN): The university examination for the first batch of MBBS students at Nagaland Institute of Medical Science and Research (NIMSR), the State’s first medical college, commenced on July 25. 

A total of 100 students, who were admitted in 2023, are taking the first MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) exam, which concludes on August 2. The practical examination is scheduled for August 7-9.

Seven examiners from various eminent government institutions in different states have been invited to conduct the practical examination along with the internal assessment.

Meanwhile, Minister of Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) P Paiwang Konyak has extended best wishes to all the first batch of MBBS students appearing for the exam at NIMSR. 

He added that as the first batch of the college, these students are setting a foundation for future generations.

A press release from the H&FW Minister’s office further informed that counselling for the current year (2024-25) is expected to start soon.

Last year, a total of 152 MBBS seats were available for Nagaland (Central pool 42, NEC pool 25, and NIMSR 85), and it is expected that the same number of seats will be allotted for the state, it said.

A Surety Bond for compulsory service upon graduation will be implemented for all intending students, it added.
