Maharashtra Bandh: As of now, there is no government circular on closure of schools, colleges due to Maharashtra bandh tomorrow

Maharashtra Bandh: The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has called for a ‘Maharashtra Bandh’ on Saturday, August 24 to protest the alleged sexual assault of two young girls at a school in Badlapur, Thane. As there is a strike tomorrow in the state, students and parents are now concerned whether schools, educational institutions will be open tomorrow.
Will schools, colleges be closed tomorrow?
As of now, there is no government circular on closure of schools, colleges in Maharashtra tomorrow. However, schools which are generally closed on Saturday and Sunday will remain closed tomorrow. But, there are schools which open for half day on Saturday, students should contact the school authorities, principal to know the school opening status for tomorrow.
But, it is advisable for students to remain home and to attend school if there are some important events tomorrow. The students might face rail, road blockade due to strike tomorrow. The students of college, other educational institutes should check with their authorities before reaching their institute tomorrow.
Badlapur kindergarten sexual assault case
The outrage over the sexual assault of two kindergarten students hit the streets and thousands of protesters blocked the railway tracks at Badlapur rail station and stormed the schools. As per the complaint, two female students of Kindergarten were sexually abused by the school sweeper on August 12 and 13.
The buses and metros will remain functional as the state government has not extended its support to the bandh. Meanwhile, banks will be closed on Saturday as it is the fourth Saturday of the month.
State-wise schools closure tomorrow
Schools in various states is likely to remain closed tomorrow due to heavy rainfall. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rains in states of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam, Goa, Maharashtra between August 23 and 25.
