Lucknow woman dies of burn injuries after self immolation bid near UP CM’s residence

New Delhi: A woman, who tried to self immolate herself near UP CM Yogi Adityanath’s residence in Lucknow, died during treatment on Sunday. She had suffered severe burn injuries and was undergoing treatment at King George’s Medical University (KGMU).

The deceased identified as Anjali Jatav, allegedly tortured by her husband and in-laws, had set herself on fire on August 6. She was taken to the hospital with a third degree burn and in a critical condition.

She suffered 90 per cent burns

Three arrested so far

Lucknow Police have so far arrested three people including the woman’s lawyer, for allegedly inciting her for immolation, and her husband.

An FIR has been lodged against the lawyer Sunil Kumar.
