Lucknow-Agra Expressway: Seven killed, 25 injured as car-bus collides in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah – India News

Seven people lost their lives and 25 others were injured when a bus fell into a ditch after colliding with a car on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in the Usrahar area, according to police. The bus, which had a Nagaland number plate, was traveling from Rae Bareli to Delhi when the accident occurred at 12:45 am, as stated by Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar.

How did the collision happen?

As per the initial report, the car was coming from Lucknow and was heading towards Agra and entered the wrong lane. It is expected that the driver must have fallen asleep resulting in the collision. The car smashed the bus and it went off the road, flipped over, and fell into a ditch. It has been learned that the driver continued using a mobile phone while driving and didn’t stop even when asked to.

Around 60 people are expected to be traveling on the bus while the accident took place, reported police. The injured passengers have been transported to the hospital for further treatment.

Victims identified so far

Three passengers of the car who died on the spot were Chanda Devi, her son Monu 25 years old, and Pradyumn 24 years old. One of the victims on the bus was identified as Om Prakash Tiwari who was 50 years old and hailed from Lakhimpur. Three others who lost their lives are yet to be identified by the police. The family who all lost their lives in the road mishap were returning from Mehndipur Balaji in Rajasthan and were heading to Talgram in Kannauj.
