BEIRUT (Lebanon) – The FIBA Regional Office-Asia successfully organized a Level 2 Sports Performance Specialist (SPS) course in Chennai, India last July 19-21.

Made possible in cooperation with the Basketball Federation of India, a total of 15 participants attended the workshop aimed to equip coaches, athletes, and stakeholders with knowledge and skills to improve athletic capabilities and prevent injuries in basketball.

“I am extremely grateful to the Basketball Federation of India and FIBA Asia for organizing this SPS Level 2 Course,” said Siva Shanmuga Singh, one of the attendees.

“The program gave us clear insights on the importance of correct form, posture and techniques. I learned a lot from the workshop and want to implement it practically. Also, all the arrangements throughout this course were well taken care of,” added Singh.

Another participant in Athul Krishnan was as grateful for all the lessons from the three-day session for further broadening their knowledge about strength and conditioning.

“It was a great experience to be a part of this course, and was very helpful for me and for those who attended to learn more about strength and conditioning in detail,” Krishnan said.

Taught through theoretical and practical sessions, the SPS program is part of FIBA’s initiative to strengthen the local coaches’ physical training skills and promote strength and conditioning in basketball, which greatly contributes to the quality of games.
