To observe the day, many devotees keep fast to connect more deeply with the divine. The practice of fasting is an ancient tradition that is seen as a way to purify both the body and mind. Many devotees also keep a ‘Nirjala’ fast in which they abstain from eating or drinking anything and this is the most difficult form of fasting among all. Apart from this, some people keep ‘Falhar’ in which they only eat fruits and can drink water.

In conversation with News9, Bharathi Kumar, Dietician, Fortis Hospital, Nagarbhavi, Bangalore shared 5 alternative and healthy drinks that people who are fasting today may consider.
