Kolkata: A woman doctor was found dead with multiple injuries at RG Kar Medical College and hospital’s seminar room in West Bengal capital Kolkata. There are allegations of rape before her murder. The deceased has been identified as Moumita Mondol.
The doctor’s body has been recovered and taken for post mortem. Police say they have started investigation into the murder.
Victim’s body found by hospital staff
The deceased was a second-year postgraduate medical student who was also working as house staff in the chest medicine department. Her body was found by hospital staff on the fourth floor of the emergency building around noon.
Upon receiving the information, a large police force, led by Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Gupta of the North & North Suburban Division of Kolkata Police, were sent to the spot. Later, the city’s Police Commissioner, Vineet Kumar Goyal, also reached the hospital to oversee the situation.
Some doctors at the hospital said that there were visible injury marks on the doctor’s body, as reported by IANS. Her body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the autopsy. The entire autopsy process will be video-recorded to ensure transparency.

Meanwhile, BJP’s IT cell chief and central observer for West Bengal, Amit Malviya, took to social media to claim that this was a case of rape and murder. He alleged that the state government and Kolkata Police were attempting to cover up the crime by labeling it as suicide.
