The psychoanalytic profiling of Sanjay Roy, the accused in the rape and murder of a Kolkata doctor, has revealed that he is a “pervert and severely addicted to pornography,” a CBI officer stated on Thursday. According to the officer, Roy exhibited an “animal-like instinct” and showed no remorse during interrogation for the brutal crime committed inside the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

The CBI officer told PTI that Roy had no hesitation while describing the crime that sparked nationwide outrage. “He narrated every detail of the incident without any sign of remorse or hesitation,” the officer said.

The incident occurred when the doctor took a break in the hospital’s seminar hall during her exhausting 36-hour shift. The post-mortem report indicates that she was raped, brutally beaten, and strangled, with 16 external and nine internal injuries noted.

Sanjay Roy was apprehended a day later. CCTV footage showed him entering the building near the time of the crime, and his Bluetooth headphones were found close to the crime scene. Additionally, his mobile phone contained several pornographic videos.

Technical and scientific evidence placed Roy at the crime scene. CCTV cameras captured him near the chest department at 11 a.m. on August 8 and re-entering the building at 4 a.m. on August 9. The estimated time of death was between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. on August 9.

The CBI is investigating the possibility of a larger conspiracy behind the murder and has questioned former RG Kar Medical College principal, Dr. Sandip Ghosh, over several days. The agency is considering polygraph tests for Roy, Dr. Ghosh, and others.

Meanwhile, the Kolkata Police are also probing allegations of financial misconduct against Dr. Sandip Ghosh. On Wednesday, Akhtar Ali, a former colleague of Dr. Ghosh, accused him of being involved in the “business of dead bodies.”
