Sanjay Roy’s demand for egg chowmein was rejected due to prison regulations requiring uniform meals for all inmates. When served standard roti and vegetables, Roy initially reacted angrily but calmed down after prison staff intervention.

Earlier, after his transfer from CBI custody to Presidency Correctional Home, Roy had requested some sleep and was observed mumbling at times.

Kolkata: Sanjay Roy, the accused in the Kolkata rape and murder case, currently lodged at Presidency Correctional Home, has reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with the meals provided in prison. Upset with the standard “roti-sabzi” meal served to him, Roy demanded egg chowmein instead. However, prison regulations require that all inmates receive the same meals prepared for the general prison population, so his request for egg chowmein was denied.

Sources from the correctional home said that Roy initially reacted angrily when served roti and vegetables but eventually agreed to eat after being reprimanded by the prison staff. Earlier, after his transfer from CBI custody to Presidency Correctional Home, Roy had requested some sleep and was observed mumbling at times. However, he appears to have settled into the routine after a few days.
