Kolkata: Hours after a doctor’s body was found at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, the post-mortem preliminary report reveals that there were multiple injuries in different parts of the body. Her mutilated body was found in the hospital’s seminar room, after which the probe was initiated by the police.

What post-mortem-preliminary report reveals?

The deceased’s mother and three other doctors were also present at the time of the post-mortem. While the initial report suggested that the crime allegedly took place between 3 am to 6 am, two types of semen samples were found from private organs of the deceased doctor, the report said further. Speaking to TV9 Network, a police official said that this is a clear case of murder and not a suicide. However, nothing is mentioned in the post-mortem report.

Notably, the deceased was a second-year postgraduate medical student. She was working as house staff in the chest medicine department in the hospital. Her body was found by hospital staff around noon on the fourth floor of the building. A police team led by Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Gupta reached the spot soon after reaching the spot. Later city’s Police Commissioner, Vineet Kumar Goyal, also reached the hospital.

‘Handover case to CBI’

Asking the state government to transfer the case to CBI, BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, wrote on X, “This is a clear case of murder (with the probability of rape). The case should be immediately transferred to the CBI (@CBIHeadquarters). Instead, the State Govt has formed an 11 member enquiry committee for this incident. Strangely some of the Committee members are Internees. In my opinion the State Govt is either trying to sweep the matter under the mat so that the negligence on their part doesn’t get exposed or they are not at all serious about this matter.”

“I urge the Student Community to raise their voice against the lackadaisical attitude of the State Govt, especially the Medical Students should protest vehemently. I will extend all the support to the Student fraternity as long as the deceased Student doesn’t get justice,” he added.
