A special court in Kolkata has authorized the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to conduct lie detector tests on Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Hospital, in connection with the tragic rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor.

The court has also granted approval for polygraph tests on four additional medical professionals who were colleagues of the victim and present at the hospital on the night of the crime. These tests aim to assess the credibility of their statements as part of the ongoing investigation, according to media reports

The CBI’s decision to administer polygraph tests is a crucial step in verifying the accuracy of the information provided by the individuals involved. This move follows a previous court order on August 19, which allowed the CBI to conduct a polygraph test on Sanjoy Roy, the primary suspect in the case.

Sanjoy Roy, a 33-year-old civic volunteer, is accused of assaulting and murdering the second-year trainee doctor. Roy was arrested shortly after the body of the victim was discovered in the seminar hall of RG Kar Hospital on August 9.

The Calcutta High Court has rescheduled the next hearing of the case to August 29, allowing time for the polygraph tests and further investigation. The case has garnered significant attention and underscores the ongoing efforts to ensure justice for the victim and her family.
