Kashmir Women Cricket League 2024 Season II kicks off with enthusiasm – Kashmir Reader

SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Women Cricket League 2024, Season II, officially began on Thursday at the iconic Sher-I-Kashmir Cricket Stadium. Organized by the 31 Sub Area under the aegis of Chinar Corps, the league promises an exciting week of cricket action.

The opening ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, GOC of 31 Sub Area, and the Guest of Honour, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, PRO (Defence), Srinagar said in a statement issued here.

Both officials set an encouraging tone for the tournament, urging participants to showcase their skills and sportsmanship. The highly anticipated trophy was unveiled, marking the start of the tournament.

Featuring twelve teams from across Kashmir and 160 talented women cricketers, the league will run from August 1st to 8th. The event aims to enhance women’s cricket in the region, fostering a spirit of competition and camaraderie among participants.

The Army’s support for this tournament underscores its commitment to promoting gender equality, building confidence among women, and creating opportunities for them to excel. This initiative reflects the Army’s dedication to women’s empowerment and its broader efforts to drive positive societal change.

The league is being organized in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), Ujala Cygnus chain of Hospitals, and Hope Alive NGO.
