SRINAGAR: The Department of Bioresources at the University of Kashmir has organised a five-day INSPIRE Internship Science Camp from Tuesday to 31st August 2024.

This event, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, aims to extend the university’s educational outreach and societal engagement. Sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, the camp offers students from across the Kashmir valley a unique opportunity to engage with distinguished mentors, scientists, and experts from various scientific disciplines, including Life and Health Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, and Earth Sciences.

The primary objective of the camp is to inspire students to pursue careers in science and research by providing them with the chance to interact directly with leading figures in the scientific community.

The event was inaugurated at the historic Gandhi Bhawan within the University of Kashmir, marking the commencement of what promises to be an enriching and intellectually stimulating experience.

Throughout the five days, participants will be introduced to the latest developments in scientific research and innovation, equipping them with knowledge and insights that could significantly influence their academic and professional futures.

The opening session emphasised the critical role of the INSPIRE programme in fostering a spirit of innovation among young students.

The camp is specifically designed for top-performing 11th-grade students from Jammu  Kashmir, with the aim of encouraging them to think critically and creatively about the scientific challenges of the future.

A significant highlight of the event was the launch of a Breast Cancer Awareness Website, which serves as a precursor to the upcoming International JK Breast Cancer Awareness Conference, scheduled to take place from 7th to 9th October 2024.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the active participation of all attendees.
