Ghaziabad: In preparation for the annual Kanwar Yatra, all schools in Ghaziabad will be closed from July 29 to August 2, according to an order issued by District Magistrate Indra Vikram Singh on Friday. The closure aims to ensure the safety of students and school buses during the significant pilgrimage period.

Traffic expected to surge significantly

The Kanwar Yatra, which coincides with the start of the Shravan month on July 22 and Shivratri on August 2, sees thousands of Shiv devotees transporting holy water from Haridwar to various states, including Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi. The influx of pilgrims is expected to significantly increase traffic through Ghaziabad.

To manage the anticipated surge of devotees, the district administration has imposed a ban on the movement of all vehicles, including light and small ones, to facilitate a smooth and secure journey for the Kanwariyas.
