Juvenile Among Four Arrested as Police Solve Cattle Theft Case in JK’s Ganderbal

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district solved a theft case by arresting four accused persons involved in the commission of crime.

“Police Station Kangan received a written complaint on 28th of May 2024 regarding cattle theft at Kachnambal Wudar Kangan. On receipt of this complaint, a case FIR No 41/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Kangan and investigation was started,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.

“During the course of investigation, a special team headed by SHO PS Kangan which was constituted on the directions of SSP Ganderbal apprehended four suspected persons,” it said.

The police said that they have been identified as Imran Ahmad Shah son of Ajaz Ahmad Shah resident of UP A/P Panzinara, Altaf Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Wahab Sheikh resident of Gantmula Baramulla, Mohd Lateef Pathan son of Ali Mohd Pathan resident of Mujpathri Budgam and a Juvenile (name withheld) resident of Qamarwari Srinagar.

During questioning, they confessed their involvement in the commission of crime. They further disclosed that they have sold the cattles to a butcher identified as Yaqoob Ahmad Wani son of Mohd Maqbool Wani resident of Hajin Sonawari.

“All the accused persons were arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody besides, the juvenile was lodged in juvenile home Harwan Srinagar,” the police said.

“Moreover, two vehicles bearing registration numbers JK06B0172 and JK05L5975 which were used in the commission of the crime were also seized,” the police added.
