Gangtok, July 31: Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Pakyong, emerges Sikkim State Champion in State Round of Fit India Quiz 2023, winning the prize Mlmoney of Rs.3 Lacs. The team has emerged victorious and has moved to the National Finale.
Fit India Quiz is India’s biggest quiz on sports and fitness, with a total prize money of Rs 3.25 crore being offered to schools and students. The State rounds of the 3rd edition of the quiz are being streamed on the YouTube channel of Fit India while the State finals are also set to go on air on Doordarshan.
The quiz aims to promote Fitness and a healthy lifestyle under the flagship of the Fit India mission of the Government of India. The event will definitely encourage the students to adopt a healthy and fitter lifestyle to strengthen the foundation of a healthy and fitter India. Under the leadership of our Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the quiz has generated spontaneous participation across the country.
“In the preliminary round, 1,03,671 students have participated from 41,789 schools in the country. In Sikkim, 11 schools have taken part in the event, out of which 4 have made it to the state rounds.
4 teams from Sikkim had qualified for the semi-final round to move into the State finals. A team of 2 students each from the schools of KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA GANGTOK, JAWAHAR NAVODAYA VIDYALAYA PAKYONG, GOVERNMENT SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL TADONG and KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA NHPC SINGTAM had participated in the finals and after an intensely competitive round, the team from JAWAHAR NAVODAYA VIDYALAYA, PAKYONG, SIKKIM with SURAJ KUMAR PRASAD and KONGCHEN LEPCHA as participants have emerged victorious.
JAWAHAR NAVODAYA VIDYALAYA, PAKYONG is crowned as the State Champion of SIKKIM and will move to the National Finals of Fit India Quiz 2023 scheduled in Delhi.
The winning team of SURAJ KUMAR PRASAD and KONGCHEN LEPCHA from JAWAHAR NAVODAYA VIDYALAYA, PAKYONG, SIKKIM will be awarded a total prize money of Rs 25,000 with the school being rewarded with Rs 2,50,000.
GOVERNMENT SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL, TADONG will get a prize money of Rs 1,00,000 and the students a total of Rs 10,000.
Similarly, the KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA, GANGTOK will be rewarded with a cash award of Rs 50,000 and the participating students win a total prize money of Rs 5,000.
All the schools participating in the State/UT rounds will be winning a prize money of Rs 15,000 with students getting a total cash award of Rs 2,000.
Teams were identified for the state-level stage after a preliminary examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). After the preliminary round of the Fit India Quiz, 256 schools were selected for the state-level stage.
From each State/UT, a specified number of schools qualifying for the State level stage were selected through a preliminary examination conducted on a specially designed web platform. They then qualified for the State Finals, which consisted of 4 teams from that particular State/UT.
The Sikkim State Round Finale is broadcast on the official YouTube channel of the Fit India Movement.
