Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday caught the Assistant Engineer (AE) of Jatni Block in Kurda district while taking a Rs 50,000 bribe.

Asst.Engineer Nibedita Mohanty was apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000 at her residence in Khandagiri, Bhubaneswar from a Contractor for clearing his pending bill towards the construction of Govt. works under Jatni Block.

The entire bribe amount has been recovered from accused Smt. Mohanty, AE and seized. Following the successful trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Smt Mohanty from DA angle, the Vigilance said.

“In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No. 16/2024 u/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. The investigation is in progress against AE Nibedita Mohanty,” the Vigilance added.
