The Research Committee and IQAC, Mount Tiyi College, Wokha, organised a one-day international webinar focused on the theme “Influence of Popular Korean Culture among Youths in Nagaland: Challenges and Opportunities” at the Conference Hall, Mount Tiyi College Wokha.

The event was graced by Dr. Bongli Sangtam PHD (IT), Research Scientist & Guest Faculty, Dept. of Medical and Mechatronic Engineering, Soon Chun Huang University, South Korea as the resource person.

Deliberating on the theme, Dr. Bongli Sangtam discussed on several aspects of Korean culture and practices such as South Korea’s transformation from poverty to prosperity, emphasising Korean work ethics, public etiquette, and the country’s social environment. 

He highlighted sustainable environmental policies, the promotion of indigenous technology, and social media trends, including insights into the realities of K-pop idols. 

He also informed attendees about leading universities in South Korea and available scholarships, underscoring proficiency in the Korean language as crucial for aspiring students. He recommended top websites and apps for learning Korean, facilitating cultural exchange.

Concluding his address, he suggested that Nagas could adapt many Korean practices and attitudes, such as self-reliance, fostering growth, and a strong community spirit, to their own context.

The session concluded with an engaging Q&A segment where the resource person addressed queries from enthusiastic participants. The programme was chaired by Dr. Pichano Kikon. 

Welcome speech and keynote address were delivered by Dr. Bweyhunle Khing, Principal and Dr. I. Koktiba Sangtam, Convenor, Research Committee, MTC. Observation and remarks were made by Dr. Libemo Kithan, Associate Professor, Department of History, MTC. Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Medongunuo Ngone, Co-ordinator, IQAC, MTC.
