Intense rainfall predicted in many states, 142 roads blocked in Uttarakhand after heavy downpour
A depression over northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining east Rajasthan has intensified into a deep depression. The IMD has issued warnings of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in parts of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Goa, and Maharashtra over the next two to three days.
The IMD has predicted widespread light to moderate rainfall across West and Central India for the entire week.
New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted widespread rainfall across the entire country over the week, with light to moderate downpours expected. The IMD has also warned of extremely heavy rainfall over flood-stricken Tripura. Meanwhile, heavy rain in Uttarakhand has resulted in 142 roads, including highways and village roads, being blocked. At least 62 people have died in rain-related incidents in the state since the onset of the monsoon.

West and Central India
The IMD has predicted widespread light to moderate rainfall across West and Central India for the entire week. Parts of Maharashtra are likely to witness heavy rainfall from August 28 to August 31.
West Madhya Pradesh, Konkan, Goa, and parts of Maharashtra are expected to experience very heavy rainfall on August 27. Extremely heavy rainfall is also predicted for Gujarat until August 29.
East and Northeast India
Widespread light to moderate rainfall is forecasted for East and Northeast India throughout the week. Heavy rainfall is likely later in the week.
Meghalaya, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, and Jharkhand are expected to receive very heavy rainfall. Extremely heavy rainfall has been predicted for Tripura and Mizoram.
South Peninsular India
Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is very likely over Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Coastal Karnataka, and Interior Karnataka. Isolated to scattered rainfall is expected over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Rayalaseema, and Telangana during the week.
Very heavy downpour has been predicted for Coastal Karnataka on August 26 and 29.
Northwest India
Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall is very likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Rajasthan, with isolated to scattered rainfall over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi during the week.
Isolated heavy rainfall is expected in Uttar Pradesh on August 25 and 26, Uttarakhand on August 25 and 27, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad from August 26 to 29, Himachal Pradesh on August 27, and Punjab & Haryana-Chandigarh on August 27 and 28.
Isolated very heavy rainfall is likely over West Rajasthan on August 25 and 27, and East Rajasthan on August 27. Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is also very likely over East Rajasthan on August 25 and 26, and West Rajasthan on August 26.
