Indian Railways cancels two Himachal trains on THIS date due to redevelopment work – Railways News
The Indian Railways on Saturday (August 17) announced the cancellation of two trains—Una to Haridwar and Amb-Andaura to Ambala—until Sunday (August 18). This disruption is due to girder installation work near Anandpur, Punjab, as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
In addition, the Daulatpur Chowk to Sabarmati train, which passes through Amb-Andaura and Una, was delayed by three hours on Friday. Passengers on the Sabarmati Express experienced significant delays, with many waiting for three hours at Una station.
Sabarmati Express derailment
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reported that the Sabarmati Express, en route from Varanasi to Ahmedabad, derailed near Kanpur at 2:35 am on Saturday after its engine collided with an “object placed on the track.” The derailment, which occurred near Govindpuri station, involved 20 coaches. There have been no reports of injuries or fatalities.

Vaishnaw stated on X that evidence from the scene has been preserved and investigations are being conducted by the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Uttar Pradesh Police. Initial findings suggest that the derailment may be due to a deliberate act, as a foreign object was discovered near the 16th coach, and damage to the engine’s cattle guard indicates a possible intentional placement of the object.
