India weather forecast and warning by IMD: Widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected in several parts of India over the next few days, with very heavy rainfall likely in West and Central India, particularly in Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan, and Goa. According to IMD’s weather forecast, Northwest India, including Uttarakhand and East Rajasthan, will also experience heavy rain, while South Peninsular and Northeast India will see light to moderate rainfall.

In West and Central India, light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, is expected over the next five days.

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms and lightning in parts of South Peninsular and Northeast India over the next few days. There will be no major changes in maximum temperatures across most parts of the country.

In West and Central India, light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, is expected over the next five days. Extremely heavy rainfall is predicted in the ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra on July 26-27 and in Konkan and Goa on July 26. 

Rain in Delhi likely over weekend

The weather department has predicted that rain will continue to lash Delhi-NCR till July 28. The rain on Saturday and Sunday will keep the weather in Delhi-NCR pleasant. While the rain has provided relief from the humid heat, it has also caused trouble for residents. Waterlogging persists in many areas of Delhi.

Very heavy rainfall likely in Madhya Pradesh

According to IMD, very heavy rainfall is expected in Madhya Pradesh on July 26, with Gujarat and Madhya Maharashtra likely to experience heavy showers over the next few days.

Northwest India will see rain and thunderstorms throughout the region. Uttarakhand is likely to experience very heavy rain on July 26-27. Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh are likely to receive moderate rainfall from July 26-29.

Rain forecasted for Kerala and Karnataka

In South Peninsular India, scattered to widespread light to moderate rain, with thunderstorms and lightning, is likely in Kerala and Karnataka. Very heavy rainfall is expected in South Interior Karnataka and Coastal Karnataka on July 27, while North Interior Karnataka will see heavy rain on July 26.

East and Northeast India will experience fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms. Very heavy rainfall is forecast for Odisha on July 26. Assam, Meghalaya, and several northeastern states will see moderate rain during this period.

63 killed in Gujarat rain and floods

Due to the heavy rain, Gujarat and Maharashtra are facing severe conditions. Flooding has affected many areas in these states, with roads and vehicles being swept away by the strong currents. The situation is particularly dire in Kutch and Saurashtra in Gujarat, where the heavy rain has caused significant damage.

So far, 63 people have lost their lives in Gujarat due to the floods. Seven districts, including Surat and Junagadh, are in a particularly bad state.
