India T20 Squad for Bangladesh 2024

India is set to clash with Bangladesh in a T20I series later this year. India vs Bangladesh T20I series will observe three T20I clashes between both sides. During the Bangladesh tour of India 2024, India and Bangladesh will play two Tests and three T20Is. 

India will form a powerful squad against Bangladesh, as they lost an ODI series against them in 2022, and cannot take them lightly. The Test series will be played first in September followed by the T20I series in October. 

The first India vs Bangladesh T20I game will be played on October 6 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. The next two games are scheduled to take off in Delhi (Arun Jaitley Stadium) and Hyderabad (Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium). The 2nd and 3rd games will be played on October 9 and 12. 

A look at India vs Bangladesh T20I history  

India vs Bangladesh rivalry in the shortest format dates back to June 2009, when India faced Bangladesh for the first time in the ICC T20 World Cup. Till now, both Asian Giants have played a total of 14 T20I games. 

India and Bangladesh also faced each other in the previous T20 World Cup in 2022, where the Men-in-Blue stunned the Men-in-Green in Australia. The most memorable matches are the ICC T20 clash in 2016 and Nidahas Trophy final, where India clinched a nerve-wracking victory on the final ball. 

If we look at IND vs BAN head-to-head records, Bangladesh has defeated India just once in T20Is while India has a stunning record with 13 victories. Recently, India and Bangladesh also faced each other in T20 World Cup 2024 and the Rohit Sharma & Boys crushed them with comfort by 50 runs.

India T20 Squad for Bangladesh 2024

Openers- Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhishek Sharma

Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal are likely to be part of the Test series and hence, they will be part of the ODI series too.

Rohit Sharma has retired from T20Is and Jaiswal and Gill are the next batters in line. Abhishek Sharma can also get a chance after his stunning show in Zimbabwe. 

Middle-Order Batters- Suryakumar Yadav (C), Rinku Singh  

Suryakumar Yadav and Rinku Singh will be part of the middle order. Suryakumar Yadav and Rinku Singh are the two biggest smashers in the shortest format and there is no reason why selectors would overlook them. Yadav was picked as the new skipper in the last series and will get another chance. 

Wicketkeepers- Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson 

Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson are highly to be picked for the India vs Bangladesh T20I series. Notably, Rishabh Pant is a fixed keeper in the Tests and will be picked in the T20I series. The other can be Sanju Samson because KL Rahul is not picked in T20Is.

All-Rounders- Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel

Hardik Pandya is the most crucial seam all-rounder for India and he also proved it during T20 World Cup 2024. He showed good form in IND vs SL T20I series. After Ravindra Jadeja’s ouster, Axar Patel has become a crucial member of the side. 

Spinners- Kuldeep Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi 

For spinners, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi might be picked for the series. Notably, Kuldeep Yadav picked an 8-wicket haul in a Test match in Bangladesh in 2022 and will also be part of the T20I series. Ravi Bishnoi is a powerful spinner in T20Is, he gives more variation being a right-arm. 

Pacers- Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Shami

Key pacers like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami are expected to be part of the Test series. Hence, they will play in the T20I series too. The other two can be Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh.

Notably, all of them have not retired from the shortest format and are highly expected to be part of the Test series. As per the latest reports, they are part of the series and can be picked in the T20I squad too.
