In the line of Sikkim, Uttarakhand government also mandates to keep a dustbin in the tourist vehicles. In a statement released by the state’s chief secretary, instructions have been given to conduct regular checking and challan in this regard.

Dehradun: After two days of the Sikkim government introducing a new mandate requiring all tourist vehicles entering the state to carry large garbage bags, Uttarakhand government also issued the same directives to fix the responsibility of tourists, tour operators, travel agencies and drivers in maintaining the cleanliness of the state.
Mandatory to keep Dustbin / Garbage Bag in all vehicles coming to Uttarakhand
On Thursday, Uttarakhand chief secretary Radha Raturi gave instructions to strictly enforce the rule of mandatory keeping of Dustbin / Garbage Bag in all vehicles coming to Uttarakhand. The Chief Secretary has also given instructions to conduct regular checking and challan in this regard. She has given instructions to ensure strict compliance of the orders issued by the Transport Department in this regard.
Transport Commissioners of other states are informed
In this regard, the Transport Department also wrote a letter to the Transport Commissioners of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. According to the instructions issued by the Transport Department, during the Char Dham yatra, under the cleanliness campaign, passengers sitting in vehicles cannot throw garbage on the roads and it is mandatory to keep a dustbin / garbage bag in all vehicles.
Dustbin mandatory before issuing trip cards to vehicles
The Chief Secretary said that while issuing trip cards to vehicles entering the state, it must be ensured that every vehicle has a dustbin / garbage bag. The general public should be informed about this on a wide scale. In this regard, CS has also given instructions to establish dialogue and coordination with tour operators, travel agencies and drivers.
Maintaining the cleanliness is collective responsibility
Chief Secretary Radha Raturi also said that being a tourist state, maintaining the natural cleanliness of the state and protecting the environment is the collective responsibility of the residents of Uttarakhand as well as the tourists and devotees who come here in lakhs every year.
