The Indian Meteorological Department forecasts widespread rain across India. Extremely heavy rainfall is predicted for Rajasthan and Uttarakhand. Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh to see moderate rain and thunderstorms.

New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted widespread rain across the country amid the ongoing monsoon. While landslide-affected Kerala is predicted to receive light to moderate rainfall, national capital Delhi would receive thunderstorms and lightning.

The IMD has predicted extremely heavy rainfall in Rajasthan on August 4 and 6, while very heavy rainfall is expected in Uttarakhand on August 6 and 7.

Thunderstorms, lightning in north India

Delhi, along with Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, is set to experience moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning throughout the week.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also forecasted for Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat from August 4 to August 10. 

Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada are likely to witness scattered to fairly widespread rainfall during the week.

Heavy rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh

The eastern and northeastern parts of the country are expected to see widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.

Arunachal Pradesh is likely to experience very heavy rainfall throughout the week.

Landslide-ravaged Kerala, as well as Lakshadweep, coastal Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, will also witness light to moderate rainfall over the next five days.

Squally weather, with wind speeds reaching 35 km/h to 45 km/h, is very likely to prevail over South Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Goa.
