IMD predicts heavy rainfall across India; check weather forecast for your state
A prolonged spell of widespread rainfall is expected to drench West, Central, East and South Peninsular India over the next five days, with thunderstorms and lightning likely to accompany the downpour. The heaviest rainfall is predicted to occur in several areas, including West Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat State from July 21-23, and Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, East Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha on July 21, where extremely heavy rainfall is predicted.

New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted significant rainfall across various regions of India in the coming days. A low-pressure area over interior Odisha and adjoining Chhattisgarh is expected to move northwest and will become weak gradually in the next 12 hours.
Meanwhile, the monsoon trough is active and lies south of its normal position, expected to move northwards in the next two days. A western disturbance is present as a trough in the middle troposphere and its axis is running roughly along the 68°E longitude north of the 28°N latitude.
In west, central, east and south peninsular India, very widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall, with thunderstorms and lightning, is expected over the next five days. Extremely heavy rainfall is predicted in West Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat from July 21-23 and also in Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, East Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha on July 21.
Very heavy rainfall is likely in Chhattisgarh on July 21 and 22, Vidarbha on July 22, Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra from July 22-24, West Madhya Pradesh on July 24, East Madhya Pradesh on July 22 and 23 and Gujarat State on July 24 and 25. In Northwest India, scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is expected in East Rajasthan, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh over the next five days.
North India braces for heavy rainfall
Extremely heavy rainfall is expected in Uttarakhand on July 22 and isolated heavy rainfall is expected in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, west Rajasthan, east Rajasthan and Jammu & Kashmir on various days throughout the week.
Northeast India will experience fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall, with isolated heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, over the next five days. Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are likely to receive heavy rainfall during this period.
