IMD issues ‘extremely heavy’ rainfall alert for Gujarat, Tripura; check your state’s forecast
India will experience widespread rainfall over the next week, with heavy to extremely heavy showers forecasted across northern, central, western, and southern regions. The east and northeast will also see isolated heavy rainfall, particularly in Tripura and Mizoram on August 25.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected in many parts of the country, including Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
New Delhi: India is likely to experience significant rainfall activity over the next week with various regions expected to see widespread light to moderate showers.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected in many parts of the country, including Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Rain likely in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh
In Northwest India, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh will witness fairly widespread to scattered rainfall.
Uttarakhand is expected to experience isolated heavy rainfall over the next seven days, with very heavy rains forecasted for East Rajasthan between August 25 and 26. Himachal Pradesh may also receive heavy rainfall towards the end of the week.
West and Central India, including regions like Konkan, Goa, and Gujarat, will experience light to moderate rainfall over the week.
Extremely heavy rainfall forecasted for Gujarat
Isolated heavy rainfall is expected in Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat, with extremely heavy rainfall forecasted for Gujarat’s Saurashtra and Kutch regions on August 26 and 27. Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh may also see very heavy rainfall during this period.
In the east and northeast, widespread rainfall is expected, with isolated heavy showers in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and West Bengal. Extremely heavy rainfall is anticipated over Tripura and Mizoram on August 25.
South Peninsular India, including Kerala and Karnataka, will also experience widespread rainfall with heavy showers expected across several states, especially in coastal areas, till the end of the week.
