Hyderabad condemns attacks on Bangladeshi Hindus; Protests erupt across multiple localities

On Wednesday, protests surged citywide as demonstrators rallied against recent attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. Organized by Hindu Aikya Vedika, the protests united Hindu groups, NGOs, and local leaders to express solidarity with the persecuted Hindu community.

Hyderabad: On Wednesday, protests erupted across the city as demonstrators rallied against recent attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. The protests, organised by Hindu Aikya Vedika, brought together various Hindu organisations, NGOs, and local leaders to stand in solidarity with the Hindu community facing persecution.

Lawyers joins protest across multiple courts in Bengaluru

At the Ranga Reddy District Court, lawyers from the Bar Association joined the movement, voicing their support with a demonstration. They passed a resolution, to be sent to the President and Prime Minister of India, urging immediate government intervention to protect Hindus in Bangladesh. Similarly, at the Telangana High Court, a protest led by senior advocate K. Karunasagar saw advocates raising the Indian flag and denouncing the atrocities committed against the Hindu minority in Bangladesh.

The advocates’ procession stretched from Gate 4 to Gate 6 of the court, carrying banners that read, “We condemn the genocide of Hindus in Bangladesh.”

BJP takes dig on Congress for staying silent over the issue

In Malakpet, BJP leader Madhavilatha Kompella took aim at Congress leaders for their silence on the issue, drawing attention to the surge in crimes against women in Bangladesh. She referenced disturbing videos from the country and called out Congress for failing to address the horrors that had taken place.

What is happening in Bangladesh?

According to media reports, violence against Hindus in Bangladesh surged after the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on August 5. Over the course of three days, more than 200 attacks were reported, resulting in five deaths and numerous cases of sexual assault. Hindus have long been a vulnerable minority in Muslim-majority Bangladesh, but this recent wave of violence has been particularly brutal, sparking widespread concern over the pursuit of justice for the victims.
