Rajiv Gandhi international airport, also known as Hyderabad international airport, is situated near Shamshabad. It is about 22 km south of downtown Hyderabad. It is also considered as the sixth busiest airport in India, in terms of international and overall passenger traffic. The airport offers numerous services, which includes baggage facilities to the travellers, wheel chairs along with free trolley services to the physically handicapped and senior citizens. There are also numerous shops in the airport, starting from books to stationary and various products are found here at reasonable rates. Numerous cafeterias are also available in the airport. New stores are also opening at the airport. Aero bus, along with rail services, are also obtainable at this . Apart from all of these, the entire airport offers free wi-fi facilities to the travellers.
Many passengers visit this airport on a regular basis. The number of passengers is also high due to the large number of flights.
The officials have found that there is a shortage of cab facilities for the passengers arriving at Hyderabad airport during peak hours. Against this backdrop, a help desk was recently opened at the airport. They have also implemented a series of measures to tackle this shortage of app-based and high-demand cabs. They have engaged various cab operators to devise passenger and drive-friendly solutions aimed at reducing this issue.
More cabs are being arranged from different providers; Ola and Uber are also working together to remove the cancellation fees for passengers. Extra passenger service associates are available to help with queries. The TGSRTC Pushpak bus boarding point has been moved closer to make it easier for passengers. Along with these, real time cab availability will also be shown in the arrivals area to help passengers choose their transport. A special team with the State Police is patrolling to stop unauthorised operators from bothering passengers.
