Hyderabad: 150 eco-friendly shuttle buses to be deployed at 15 metro stations

Hyderabad metro news: As a part of this carbon-neutral sustainable rides programme, around 150 shuttle buses will run on 64 routes to and from 15 metro stations. The shuttle service is expected to serve more than 16,000 passengers daily.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metro Rail has collaborated with the Svida Mobility Private Limited for a carbon neutral, and environmentally sustainable shuttle service. As a part of this carbon-neutral sustainable rides programme, Svida operates around 150 shuttle buses on 64 routes to and from 15 metro stations. The shuttle service is expected to serve more than 16,000 passengers daily.

Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited – NVS Reddy, along with MD of L&TMRHL KVB Reddy launched the service at the Hitec City station on Monday. NVS Reddy told that the service recently completed a milestone of 50 lakh rides.

Svida has joined hands with TerraBlu Technologies to achieve the goal of environment-friendly sustainable rides. TerraBlu is a climate innovation technology company, which provides required infrastructure for executing the projects in a environment-friendly way.

Hyderabad Metro: WhatsApp ticketing facility

The HMRL has also launched a WhatsApp ticket facility with the help of Billeasy, a technology company which helps in generating digital receipts. This will allow the commuters buy tickets conveniently from their mobile phones for availing the shuttle services.

Hyderabad Metro is also set to undertake repair works at many key metro stations on its Corridor-1. The repair works include comprehensive repairs to drainage systems, footpaths, and planter boxes. At LB Nagar Metro Station, the works will include removal and re-fixing of existing railings. In addition to this, repairs to footpath and planter boxes will also be done. Nampally and New Market Metro Stations will also witness similar repair works.

Hyderabad Metro is India’s third largest metro network after Delhi and Bengaluru Metro. It works in a pubic-private partnership model. Larsen and Toubro (L&T) was assigned the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project by the then Government of Andhra Pradesh. Hyderabad Metro has been functional since November 28, 2017.

It has a daily ridership of over 53 thousand people. The recent step of last mile connectivity to such a large number of people with environmentally friendly shuttle service, will encourage more people for using public transportation and also reduce their dependence on private vehicles.
