In a surprising turn of events at the Jarti Mata temple in Bihar’s Siwan district, a marriage between a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law has captured public attention. The couple, identified as residents of nearby villages, exchanged garlands amidst a curious gathering of onlookers. Initially perceived as a conventional wedding celebration, the atmosphere turned contemplative when it was revealed that the bride and groom were relatives by marriage rather than by blood.

The ceremony, conducted in accordance with Hindu customs, saw the couple exchanging vows and rituals typically reserved for married couples. The groom, identified as Krishna and the brother-in-law of the bride Sangeeta, sealed their union by applying vermilion in her hair, symbolising marital commitment. The presence of a gathered crowd underscored the community’s intrigue and prompted discussions on the unconventional nature of their relationship.

Sangeeta, who belongs to Barheda village in the Barauli police station area of Gopalganj, was previously married to Nand Kishore Mahato, a resident of Pokhara Mathiya village in the Maharajganj police station area. The two tird the knot in 2018. Soon after, the couple welcomed a son and a daughter into their family. Nand Kishore later travelled out of state for employment, leaving Sangeeta behind.

During this time, Sangeeta developed a deep affection for her cousin-in-law, Krishna. Their bond intensified to the extent that they pledged lifelong commitment to each other. The matter eventually came to the attention of local authorities, leading to discussions and deliberations involving both families.

Subsequently, Sangeeta and Krishna exchanged marital vows in a ceremony held at the revered Jarti Maa temple. Their union has stirred considerable interest and debate within the community. Both Sangeeta and Krishna affirmed their decision in front of witnesses and cameras, marking a significant chapter in their unconventional love story.
