SRINAGAR, AUGUST 20: Dr. Rafeeq Masoodi, former Secretary of the Cultural Academy and former Additional Director General of Doordarshan, has expressed his deep condolences on the sad demise of renowned writer, broadcaster, and historian of Ladakh, Abdul Gani Sheikh.

In his message, Dr. Masoodi extended heartfelt sympathies to the family of Abdul Gani Sheikh, noting the profound loss felt by the cultural and broadcasting communities. He emphasized that the All India Radio and Doordarshan Srinagar family stand in solidarity with Sheikh’s family during this difficult time and pray for the eternal peace of the departed soul.

Abdul Gani Sheikh was a distinguished figure in Ladakhi literature and history, having published numerous books in Urdu. He served as a correspondent and News Editor with Radio News Unit (RNU) at All India Radio and Doordarshan Srinagar. His novel “Dil Hi Tau Hai” received the Best Book Award from the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages, marking a significant contribution to the literary heritage of the region.
