Hyderabad: After Friday evening’s torrential downpours that caused widespread flooding across the city, residents should prepare for more rain this weekend. The India Meteorological Department-Hyderabad (IMD-H) has forecast light to moderate rainfall for the next four days. A “yellow alert” has been issued for Saturday, indicating that heavy rain is likely in isolated areas of Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal districts.

The IMD-H also predicts a cloudy sky for Hyderabad with light to moderate rain or thundershowers, potentially accompanied by intense spells and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 km/h on Saturday. In recent days, Hyderabad has experienced a pattern of high humidity and warmth during the day, followed by intermittent rains in the evening. This trend is expected to continue for the next three to four days.

As of IMD’s forecast on August 16, 2024, temperatures soared to a maximum of 33.4 degrees Celsius, marking a 3.0 degrees Celsius departure from normal. The minimum temperature recorded on August 17, 2024, was 23.7 degrees Celsius, which is 1.1 degrees Celsius above average. Over the past 24 hours, from 08:30 AM yesterday to 08:30 AM today, 21 mm of rainfall was observed. Relative humidity levels were recorded at 83 per cent at 08:30 AM and 68 per cent at 17:30 PM. Today’s sunset is at 18:40 PM, while tomorrow’s sunrise is at 05:59 PM. The moonset occurred at 03:05 PM and the moonrise will be at 16:53 PM.
