Heavy Rainfall Warning: IMD issues red alert for parts of Gujarat, Maharashtra; predicts intense rain in several states – Check weather forecast – India News
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest weather forecast has informed that a depression has formed over East Rajasthan and adjoining northwest Madhya Pradesh, accompanied by a low-pressure area over southern Bangladesh and its vicinity. This evolving weather system is expected to bring very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across several regions, including Rajasthan, Gujarat, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and West Madhya Pradesh over the next two to three days.
IMD also said that isolated instances of extremely heavy rainfall are also very likely in Gujarat region from August 26 to 28, Saurashtra and Kutch from August 26 to 29, and in Konkan & Goa and the ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra on August 26. The meteorological department has issued a red alert for these regions today.
According to the IMD’s statement, heavy rainfall is expected to continue in the state until August 27. The forecast predicts widespread light to moderate rainfall across East and Northeast India throughout the week. Isolated heavy rainfall is anticipated over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands on August 27, West Bengal and Sikkim on August 26, Bihar on August 26 and 27, Jharkhand from August 26 to 27, Odisha on August 26, and Arunachal Pradesh on August 28, 29, and 30. Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura are likely to experience rain throughout the week.

Additionally, isolated very heavy rainfall is expected over Gangetic West Bengal on August 26, and Mizoram and Tripura on August 26 and 27. There is also a possibility of extremely heavy rainfall in Tripura and Mizoram on August 26.

The Meteorological department has predicted a generally cloudy sky with light rain for the national capital on Monday. The MeT Office reports that the maximum temperature is expected to reach 34°C, while the minimum temperature is forecasted to be 25°C.
Very heavy rainfall likely in parts of Gujarat
IMD has forecast ‘heavy to very heavy’ rain at several locations, with isolated instances of ‘extremely heavy’ rain, in south Gujarat districts including Vadodara, Surat, Bharuch, Navsari, Valsad, and in Amreli and Bhavnagar in the Saurashtra region till Tuesday morning. On Tuesday, the IMD also predicts ‘heavy to very heavy’ rain with isolated ‘extremely heavy’ rain in Anand, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Morbi, Dwarka, and Kutch districts.
Heavy rain likely to lash parts of Rajasthan
The weather department has forecasted very heavy rainfall, exceeding 200 mm, in certain areas of the Kota, Udaipur, and Jodhpur divisions through Monday. According to the Met department, rain activities in the state are expected to decrease after August 27.
Heavy showers in Odisha for next three days
IMD has issued a forecast predicting heavy rainfall in Odisha over the next three days due to a trough stretching from South Uttar Pradesh to the Bay of Bengal. The IMD has issued an orange warning for several northeastern districts of Odisha, including Mayurbhanj, Kendujhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Jajapur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, and Jagatsinghpur.
Bhubaneswar IMD Director Manorama Mohanty informed ANI that this weather pattern, extending 1.5 km above sea level, is expected to bring heavy rainfall to the state, with some regions possibly experiencing very heavy downpours. Mohanty noted that while many places have seen light to moderate rainfall, six locations have had very heavy rain, and three others recorded heavy rainfall, with Bamra in Sambalpur receiving the highest amount.
In addition to the forecasted heavy rainfall, the IMD anticipates light to moderate rain across most of the state in the next 24 hours. Over the past day, six locations reported very heavy rainfall, with Bamra in Sambalpur receiving the highest amount at 167.8 mm. Other areas experienced light to moderate rain.
