Water filled on Delhi’s roads after rain

Heavy rains continue to wreak havoc in many states of the country even in the last week of August. However, there is a possibility of relief in the coming days. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains are expected in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh on Monday (August 26). Red alert has been issued in all these states. Orange alert has been issued for Goa and Karnataka. Heavy rains are also expected in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura. States like Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Bihar may also receive heavy rains.

The weather will be clear in the coming days and people will get relief from heavy rains. However, heavy rain warning has been issued in Gujarat in the coming days. There is a danger of flood in low-lying areas here. Heavy rains may occur in Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Gujarat on August 27. After this, an alert has been issued regarding rain only in Gujarat.

How will the weather be in the coming days?

  • An orange alert has been issued for parts of Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Gujarat on August 27. Apart from this, heavy rains are also expected in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Kerala, Tripura and Mizoram. Torrential rains can cause problems in Kutch and Saurashtra of Gujarat.
  • There is an orange alert in Saurashtra and Kutch of Gujarat on August 28. Apart from this, there may be heavy rains in Maharashtra, Kerala, Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland.
  • An orange alert has been issued with heavy rain warning in parts of Gujarat and Karnataka on August 29. Heavy rains are expected in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Maharashtra.

Demand for special package from the center for Tripura

The Tripura unit of the Congress has demanded a special package from the Central government to compensate for the losses caused by the floods in the state. At least 26 people have died and two are missing in the floods in the state. Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman said, “The damage caused by the floods is huge. In the all-party meeting, we put forward some proposals before Chief Minister Manik Saha for the reconstruction of the state and its people. The Chief Minister has claimed that the estimated loss due to the floods could be Rs 15,000 crore. It may increase further after the final assessment. We propose that the Chief Minister urge the Centre to send a central team to assess the situation in the flood-hit state. The state government may send an all-party delegation to Delhi to meet the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister or Union Finance Minister to demand a special package for the state.”

Five devotees swept away after heavy rains in Rajasthan

Five devotees were swept away by the strong current of water in Jalore, Rajasthan, out of which three people were rescued while a woman died and the search for another is on. Heavy rains occurred at some places in Udaipur, Dholpur, Banswara, Pratapgarh, Kota, Baran, Ajmer, Bhilwara, Tonk, Jalore, Dausa, Sawai Madhopur and Sirohi districts. According to the Meteorological Department, the highest rainfall in eastern Rajasthan was recorded in Dausa at 144.0 mm and Raniwada of Jalore in western Rajasthan recorded 65 mm of rain. Police said that due to heavy rains in Jaswantpura subdivision of Jalore, water started flowing from the mountain on the stairs of Sundha Mata temple. Five devotees were swept away in the strong current, out of which one woman died. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in many areas of Kota, Udaipur and Jodhpur divisions till Monday. According to the department, there is a strong possibility of reduction in heavy rain activities from August 27.
