Heavy rain warning in 8 states including Maharashtra
New Delhi: There was light rain at many places in Delhi-NCR on Wednesday. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of extremely heavy rainfall in parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Goa, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra today and tomorrow. Heavy rains may also occur in Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha today. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura may receive rain from August 28 to September 2.

According to the information given by the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain is expected in Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand. There may be sporadic rain in Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh.
Yellow alert issued in Delhi
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain for Delhi on Wednesday. The IMD has predicted cloudy weather and moderate rain on Wednesday. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 34 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be around 23 degrees Celsius.
IMD said that Delhi received rain for 23 days in August this year and this month had the highest number of rainy days in the last 14 years. According to the data of the Meteorological Department, the previous highest rainfall was 22 days in 2012 and then 20 days in 2011. IMD said that apart from this, August this year has also been the rainiest month for the national capital where 291.6 mm of rain has been recorded so far.
126 roads closed due to rain in Himachal
Rain lashed many parts of Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday, disrupting vehicular movement on 85 more roads across the state and causing several trees to fall in the state capital Shimla. So far 126 roads are closed in the state. The local meteorological department has issued a yellow alert for the next two days, forecasting heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning at isolated places in the state.
Floods in many districts of Gujarat, 7 people died
At least seven people were killed in rain-related incidents in different parts of Gujarat. Over 15,000 people were evacuated and over 300 were rescued as the administration launched a massive relief and rescue operation in various districts. Heavy rains continued to lash Gujarat for the third consecutive day on Tuesday, disrupting normal life and flooding low-lying areas, officials said. Over 15,000 people were evacuated as water level in dams and rivers rose due to incessant rains, they said.
