Guru Nanak College, Chennai again in Top 100 colleges of India in NIRF 2024 rankings

Guru Nanak College has retained its place within the Top 100 colleges all over India, figuring on the 89th position

Despite doubling of the total number of institutions ranked in 2024 as compared to 2023, Guru Nanak College in Chennai has retained its position in the top 100 educational institutions of India as per the latest rankings released by National Institutional Ranking Framework of the Union Ministry of Education. The rankings come weeks after Manjit Singh, General Secretary of the college bagged an award from Education World.

Ranking of educational institutions across India for the year 2024 has been released by the National Institutional Ranking Framework, part of the Union Ministry of Education, ranking almost 11,000 educational institutions across the country.

In the rankings for 2024, Chennai’s leading institution, Guru Nanak College has retained its place within the Top 100 colleges all over India, figuring on the 89th position.

The college, which is ranked AA+ by the National Assessment Accreditation Council, is 7th top college within Chennai, which has a significant share of the best educational institutions in the country as the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Chennai has taken the top slot amongst all engineering colleges in India, for the 6th consecutive year.

“Being ranked within top 100 educational institutions of India in the NIRF Ranking is a great achievement to any Educational Institute. This Ranking  creates a mind frame in people about the institute. This year we have moved down from 82 to 89 but still it is a great achievement because last year the total institutions that had applied was 5,000-odd and this year 10,800 odd Institutes had applied for the ranking and standing within the top 100 in India and 7th in the city is commendable,’’ Manjit Singh, General Secretary, GNC, tells Media India Group.

The college says it will take immediate measures not just to account for the slight dip this year, but to keep climbing in the national rankings every year.

“We have identified areas where we have missed with a narrow margin and will work ahead to improve and improvise. The ranking also serves as a test for ourselves to continuously evaluate ourselves and improve ourselves on the journey for the cause of education,’’ he adds.

In a related development that reinforces the standards and the quality of education offered at GNC, General Secretary Nayar has also been bestowed the Exemplary Leadership Award for 2024 by Education World, a platform that also rates educational institutions across the country.

He ascribes the award to the collective effort of the college team, with its motivated faculty and the continued focus of the top management and leadership of the college to ensure that it continues to provide the highest quality of instruction and learning, especially in the cutting edge, job-oriented areas which respond to the needs of the employers.

“As we are focussed on inclusivity and aim to provide accessibility to the best possible education for the socially and economically underprivileged sections of the society, we realise that providing quality education has a big impact and thus whenever we launch a new course or new discipline, our first priority is to get best available and qualified manpower to join our faculty. The next step is to ensure that our infrastructure – be it labs, computers or anything else is also best in class. Only with these can we provide proper education to our students and fulfil our objectives,’’ says Nayar.
