Bengaluru: Bengaluru’s infamous traffic has always been a topic of conversation. Recently, a man took to social media to share how Google Maps showed that walking was better than taking a car in the city.

In the post “This happens only in Bangalore”, a netizen named Ayush Singh shared a screenshot showing the time that would take from Brigade Metropolis, Garudacharpalya, to KR Puram railway station. While the trip took 44 minutes by car, it only took 42 minutes by walking. Unsurprisingly, the post garnered a variety of comments.

While some were quick to criticise the city’s traffic conditions, others had other concerns and viewpoints. “Same story across many metro cities in the world,” said one. Another netizen commented, “tbh I don’t mind walking for an hour but the footpaths(if it’s present) are so terrible that I’d rather be stuck in a traffic jam.” A third person commented, “Bangalore encourages walking a lot but people are not ready to take that step, but Bengaluru will wait for you to walk. Let’s walk. Listen to Bengaluru.”

Another suggested, “If time is so important to you, then I’d like to tell you that KR Puram is 3rd metro station from Garudacharpalya. Next time you can try it.” One even stated that a metro ride between the two destinations would only take 13 minutes.

Meanwhile, some began talking about the health benefits of walking. “Bengaluru force you for healthy fit lifestyle – your trademill at the gym not required,” opined a netizen.
