New Delhi: Gold and silver prices jumped on August 21, 2024. The gold price increased Rs 200 to Rs 71,977 per 10 grams in future, while the silver rose Rs 216 to Rs 84,946 per kilogram in futures trade as participants widened their bets on a firm spot demand. The yellow metal rates appreciated as speculators created fresh positions on a firm spot demand.

Gold contracts for October delivery traded higher Rs 200 or 0.28 per cent at Rs 71,977 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 17,678 lots. Analysts said that the fresh positions built up by participants led to an increase in gold prices. Gold futures rose 0.15 per cent to USD 2,554.50 per ounce in New York
Silver contracts for September delivery rose by Rs 216 or 0.25 per cent to Rs 84,946 per kg in 21,950 lots. Analysts attributed the increase in silver prices to the fresh positions built up by participants on a positive domestic trend. Silver was trading 0.06 per cent higher at USD 29.97 per ounce in New York.
