Goa BJP MLA Calls for Alcohol Ban to Curb Accidents and Foster Development

11

In a legislative assembly session, BJP MLA Premendra Shet demanded a ban on alcohol consumption in Goa to promote development and curb accidents. Shet emphasized the need for such a measure, citing the rise in liquor-related incidents on roads and in factories.

”For a developed Bharat and Goa, alcohol consumption should be banned. While we can produce it for export, its local consumption should be stopped,” said Shet, who represents the Mayem constituency in North Goa. He pointed out that other states had already implemented such bans.

Although Chief Minister Pramod Sawant addressed other issues raised during the session, he did not comment on the alcohol ban proposal. Shet later reiterated to reporters that the ban was crucial for saving lives and would not impact tourism adversely.
