Goa win seven-goal thriller, defeating Jharkhand 4-3 in the Junior Boys’ National Football Championship for Dr BC Roy Trophy at Narianpur Chhattisgarh on Wednesday.

Goa’s Casvino Fernandes netted a brace while Yug Palyekar and Macbert Fernandes found the back of the net once in their triumph. Jharkhand managed to pull back through Manjit Das who scored a brace while Surendr Tiu tapped one in.

In the first half, Goa dictated the tempo in the midfield creating chances. Their efforts paid off in the 31st minute as Casvino Fernandes tapped one in. However, Jharkhand restored parity in the 43rd minute through Surendr Tiu. At halftime the score was 1-1.

The second half saw Goa regain the lead through Yug Palyekar in the 47th minute.

Jharkhand regrouped from the setback and once again leveled the playing field through Manjit Das in the 60th minute. Minutes later, Jharkhand gained the lead as Manjit Das went on to secure his brace.

In the 81st minute, Goa leveled the playing field as Macbert Fernandes fired one in taking the tally to 3-3.

Goa continued to dominate in midfield and once again gained the lead as Casvino Fernandes smashed one in to secure his brace and sealed them a 4-3 win.
