Mumbai Indians gave a humiliating show in IPL 2024; finishing in the last spot in the points table with just 4 wins out of 14 games. They will aim for a far better show in the next season as they have not won any title since the 2020 edition. Below we peep at 3 players MI can retain in their squad ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.
3 players who will be retained by Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2025 auction
3. Jasprit Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah is the first player that Mumbai Indians will retain in their squad. Bumrah is not only the most crucial pacer for MI but also for the Indian team. His performances in the Indian Premier League have been consistent over the years.
The right-arm got 20 wickets in 13 games in IPL 2024 at an average of just 16.40. The MI stalwart also held a superb economy of just 6.48. The management cannot risk dropping Bumrah at any cost and shell out a huge amount to back him into the side.
2. Suryakumar Yadav
There are no doubts that Suryakumar Yadav is a T20I specialist and one of the best players in the shortest format. The right-handed batsman is also the new T20I skipper of the Indian team. Yadav has been known for his hard-hitting batting style and fabulous fielding towards the boundary.
In IPL 2024, he mustered 345 runs in 11 games at 34+ average and 167+ strike rate. He also smacked an unbeaten ton in the tournament. Hence, MI will keep him as one of the retained players ahead of the next auction.
1. Hardik Pandya
Hardik Pandya took the leadership of Mumbai Indians last season, however, he could not drive the team to an impressive show. However, there are no doubts he is an outstanding all-rounder. The right-handed batsman slammed 216 runs in 13 games last season at 143+ strike rate.
He also captured 11 wickets while bowling. Notably, Mumbai Indians bought Pandya from Gujarat Titans last season and they will look to retain him for the upcoming editions. Hence, Pandya will be another member retained by MI ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.
