The Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society (APWWS) has launched a remarkable initiative aimed at educating adult women, particularly vegetable vendors and housewives.

This programmeis dedicated to empowering these women by teaching them essential skills for daily life, as well as basic digital literacy.

The programme focuses on providing education to women who have not had the opportunity to become literate. Teachers cover basic subjects from Class 1 to 3, teaching simple and practical skills. The motivation behind this initiative is to equip adult women with the knowledge and confidence needed to improve their daily lives.

In addition to traditional literacy, the programme includes digital education. Women are taught how to perform basic calculations on their phones, how to use a scanner, and how to make online payments. These skills are invaluable in today’s digital world, allowing women to manage their finances and conduct transactions more efficiently.

One of the participants, a vegetable vendor, shared her experience. She expressed how motivated and confident she now feels. Previously, she was afraid of many things, including interactions with the police. The education she received has empowered her, giving her the confidence to face daily challenges. She has been studying under the APWWS’programme for a year and is passionate about her education.

The classes are held every Saturday from 2 to 3 pm, providing a consistent and manageable schedule for the women to learn and grow. This weekly commitment ensures that the women can continue their daily work while also gaining valuable education and skills.

The programme is supported by APWWS president Kani Nada Maling. She ensures that the women receive free food, notebooks, pens, and other necessary supplies, making education accessible to all the participants. This support has made a significant difference in the lives of the women, allowing them to focus on their studies without worrying about additional expenses.

The APWWS’ initiative is a shining example of how dedicated efforts can bring about positive changes in the community. By providing education and support, the programme is helping women to become more self-reliant and confident, ultimately leading to a better quality of life.
