Jamshedpur, July 25: Another India international cricketer may be knocking on the door to a political career. Former Jharkhand cricket captain Saurabh Tiwary, who once played alongside MS Dhoni, is rumored to be gearing up for a new innings in politics. On Thursday, Tiwari met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi and presented him a book, sparking speculation that he may join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) soon.

Hailing from Jamshedpur, Tiwary’s meeting with the senior BJP leader and Home Minister Amit Shah, just before the Vidhan Sabha elections, has fueled rumors of his political ambitions. It is anticipated that Tiwari might join the BJP before the upcoming assembly elections in Jharkhand, which are expected to take place in a few months from now. The Election Commission has already begun preparations for these elections.

Saurabh Tiwary has played one-day international matches for India and has been a part of IPL teams such as the Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. He was also a member of India’s victorious team in the Under-19 World Cup in 2008.
