Baciseva Tinai is no stranger to the challenges of life.
Growing up in a family that relied solely on farming for their livelihood, she understood the value of hard work and perseverance at a young age.
On Wednesday, her determination and efforts paid off where she graduated from the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC) at the Fiji National University, Nasinu Campus, with a Certificate II in Agriculture.
It marked the achievement of her first major goal. She left school after completing Year 12 and subsequently joined the Navuso Agricultural Technical Institute near Nausori Town.
“I learned about Navuso Institute and decided to join,” Ms Tinai said.
“My goal is to expand my knowledge in farming.”
Being the eldest child in her family to graduate is significant.
Ms Tinai’s father Laisenia Ragolea was overjoyed.
“My children grew up in a broken family. I am grateful to the Lord for His guidance throughout the years, always protect and favour us,” he said.
Ms Tinai’s next step is to complete her studies at Navuso.
